Our organization is a charity and support foundation „Gyvenimo Vartai” („Gateway of Life”), founded in 2004. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those addicted to drugs and alcohols learn how to live soberly. Our goals of action are focused on the rehabilitation through abstinence and 12 Step Program, putting the recovering addicts back into employment. In order to achieve financial independence  in 2013 we established a social enterprise. Thanks to the support from the partnership program between Lithuanian Republic and Swiss Confederation, we were able to purchase woodworking equipment, and began producing firewood, timber and other wood products. The recovering addicts take active part in our social enterprise. All profit goes back into funding the rehabilitation community.

Starting of 2004 our organization have implemented more than 10 projects dedicated to provide services for rehabilitation target groups and to represent interest of that target group.  Two projects (“Decoration brigade”, NGO “Gateway of life” integration in to market for social separation experienced individuals”) were implemented by the joint financial fund of the Europe Social Fund and Lithuania Republic. One ( NGO “Gateway of life”, “establishment of social business”) – implemented with Lithuania Republic and Switzerland Confederation cooperation program fund. Other projects were financed by the Department of drug control at GLR and Kaunas city municipality
